St. Paul Performing Arts Wins Five Awards for Peter Pan!

This year the performing arts group racked up nine nominations for their sold-out production of "Peter Pan" and won five major awards. The troupe performed at a black-tie gala on Monday, May 24 at The Bushnell in Hartford. St. Paul won for Outstanding Costume - Student Achievement to Andree Ciccarelli; Outstanding Lighting Achievement, Don Coombs; Outstanding Scenic Achievement, Mark Mazzarella '78; Outstanding Choreography, Mark Simpson; and Outstanding Graphic Achievement, Mark Mazzarella '78. Ninth-grader Christina Scurto was up for Outstanding Performance by a Leading Female and received praise from the judges such as, "what a wonderful performance!" and "She WAS Peter Pan!" Although she didn't win the award, she was excited to be among the five best female actresses in a musical in the state. Mark Mazzarella, '78 also won for best scenic design. This is what one judge said of his work, "Wow! What can I say. Beautiful scenery. A feast for the eyes." 

 

 

St. Paul Students Star in ESPN Commercial! 

St. Paul  students participated in the filming of a 2010 World Cup Soccer commercial for ESPN at  Rentschler Field, East Hartford on Wednesday, May 26.  Seniors, Joe Ricci, Joe Kosich, Christina Strid, Martin Contreras, Olivia Mule, Michelle LaFrance, Lauren Roth, Casey Noonan and Sophomore, Mike Mazzarella, joined approximately 40 other  "enthusiastic" soccer fans for the commercial, that will broadcast during the World Cup games this summer. 

 

 

 

St. Paul Sets Record in First NVL Track Meet

St. Paul Catholic High School sent a small contingent to its first appearance at a Naugatuck Valley League track championship at Woodland H.S., but came home with three gold medals and a new meet record. Senior Byron Jones demolished the field in the 400-meter dash winning in 48.43, three seconds ahead of his nearest competition. Jones' time broke the 31-year-old meet record of 49.40. Jones returned in the 200 to win in 22.13. In the girl's competition, the Falcons Courtney Lobo won the javelin with a 104-foot toss. Go Falcons!

Come Fly With Me starring Steve Lippia '74 

On Friday, June 25, 2010 St. Paul Catholic High School alumni Steve Lippia '74 will perform live in the St. Paul auditorium in Bristol. Steve is an accomplished vocalist, who has performed at some of CT's most popular musical venues, including the Bushnell, the Palace Theater and Talcott Mountain Music Festival as well as around the country! 

 

The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a complimentary outdoor reception including a wine and beer tasting, followed by the concert at 8:00 p.m.
