Athletics Overview
Welcome to the St. Paul Athletic Department PDF Print E-mail

It is the intent of the Athletic Department to provide our students with a comprehensive, well-planned and balanced program of interscholastic athletics. The Department is headed by David Dennehy, Athletic Director.  St. Paul Catholic students participate in over 20 varsity, junior varsity, and freshman team sports in the Naugatuck Valley League. The Falcon athletic department has a proud and rich tradition of excellence in Connecticut High School sports, which continues today.  During the 2009-2010 season the Lady Falcons claimed the Class S State Basketball Championship for the second time in their history and 16 or our 19 varsity teams qualified for post seaon play in their respective state tournaments, the year also saw numerous St. Paul student athletes claim individual state titles,  and all-american, all-state, and all league honors.

Each summer St. Paul Catholic is host to a number of sports clinics, most notably the Shoot for Success basketball clinic which has been in existence for 37 years. Our boys basketball coach, Mr. Steve Phelps, runs the Falcon Basketball Camp for middle and high school students, with the assistance of Coach Gary Palladino. Additionally, Coach Jude Kelly hosts a premier level summer football clinic for students Grades 3-9, while Coach Joe Mone (2 time St. Paul girls basketball State Championship coach) runs a summer girls basketball clinic for middle school girls.
