National Scholarship Opportunities for Grades 9-12 PDF Print E-mail

1. Teen Travel Writing Scholarship (Deadline: August 1, 2010) Three $1000 Scholarships available. Applicants must be ages 13-18 and attending grades 8-12 as of May 15, 2010. Applications will be accepted between May 1, 2010 and August 1, 2010.

2. Help Johnny Scholarship (Deadline: Varies) This $5000 scholarship is available to any student that is 19 years or under, as of October 25, 2010 and is renewable.

3. Flashcard Scholarship (Deadline: August 1, 2010) You must be a high school or college student. It can be part time, full time, home school, or online, but you must be an actively enrolled student in high school, college or university at the time of your application. (1 x $500)

A Taste of Lincoln Culinary Institute PDF Print E-mail

A Taste of Lincoln Culinary Institute is a great opportunity for high school students to explore the world of culinary arts through 3 days of action-packed, hands-on sessions that will give you a taste of a professional culinary experience.

Each day includes chef lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on execution of featured recipes.

A Taste of Lincoln Culinary Institute is held at the Hartford and Suffield campuses and is offered twice a year in July and December. The program is three consecutive days, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The cost of the program is only $40 which covers all materials and ingredients.

Space is limited so advanced registration is required.

Summer Programs for Current High School Students PDF Print E-mail

Many colleges and universities offer summer programs for current high school students on topics ranging from Global Leadership, Visual Arts, Math and Science, Engineering, Etc. Some of these programs are great opportunities for students to learn about a field they are interested in and they also look good on college resumes. If you are interested in browsing through these programs, stop by the Guidance office. There are also posters promoting some of these programs outside the Guidance office.

 
Summer Teen Enrichment Program PDF Print E-mail

The Connecticut Historical Society, a library and museum in Hartford, is offering a unique summer Teen Enrichment Program for students entering grades 10-12. This tution-based program seeks to bring together a small group of high school students from diverse backgrounds for an intensive 4-week summer program.  The program will help students develop the skills which are necessary for success in college and a career, including teamwork, communication, public-speaking, responsibility, and self-confidence.
