Brendan Carroll – Class of 2015 Valedictory Address PDF Print E-mail

June 2, 2015

Archbishop Blair, Reverend Fathers, Dr. Hoyt, Administration, Faculty, Families, Friends, and Classmates; On behalf of the Class of 2015 I would like to thank the administration, teachers, faculty, and staff for all that they have done to get us where we are tonight. Your tireless efforts and fruitful guidance have led each of us on an unforgettable journey as students at Saint Paul Catholic High School. I would also like to thank the parents for giving us the wonderful opportunity to attend Saint Paul Catholic; it has truly been a blessing. Lastly, I would like to personally thank my classmates for making my high school experience so enjoyable; together we have created memories and formed friendships that will last a lifetime.

To the Class of 2015; it’s hard to believe, but here we are! Four years ago we walked into Saint Paul Catholic for our freshman year. Our class quickly found success on many fronts including in academics, in athletics, and in the fine arts. Fast forward four years and here we are tonight. Freshman year we came in as 101 students, but after four years of growth, development, and bonding we are leaving as one, the Class of 2015.

Our generation is one that is constantly searching. Whether it is Google, Bing, Yahoo!, or Siri, search engines are frequently being used to find random pieces of information or answer all types of crazy questions. Tonight I am here to tell you to stop searching. Instead, trust.

Good evening Archbishop Blair, revered fathers, Dr. Hoyt, administration, family, faculty, friends, and classmates. Tonight we gather to celebrate an important event, one that we have been working towards for the past four years, and one that will soon be just one of many milestones. We share the evening with those who are here, and those who are in spirit. They are the ones who have encouraged us and have inspired us to do great things. They have walked with us during these past four years, demonstrating the significance of faith, sacrifice, and community.

Faith is knowing, believing in, and living the teachings of Jesus Christ. Faith is what has us brought us here today. The journey that has led us to this point was not always simple and not always easy. As we look back, we may remember an obstacle or two. For some, it may have been a difficult class, an unexpected conflict, stress, or something more personal. Yet, we were able to find a solution to whatever we encountered. Faith served as a motivating factor. It was the force behind our determination and perseverance. Trusting that what we encounter is a part of God's plan will continue to lead us to success. With faith, nothing will be able to stand in our way.
